Strep Throat and Everything In Between

Strep throat has hit us 3 times in the past 2 weeks, twice for Ellis and once for me. If we had medicine we were feeling good but when we didn't it was rough going. A couple of Saturdays ago we went to the zoo and about half way through Ellis started asking if he could ride in the stroller and by the end of it he was asking to go to the doctor.

I think they did have fun at the Zoo but we went straight from there to prompt care where they got a negative result on his 5 min. strep test but started in on antibiotics while we waited for results from the 3 day test.

That evening after a dose of medicine he was feeling much better but we decided that Trevor should stay home with him and Alaire and I would go to church ourselves. Alaire and I came home to a huge fort that the boys had made in Ellis' room. Against my better judgment I let them have a fort sleepover that night. I have no strength for the "no" when they are sick.

I was starting to feel yucky by the time we found out that Ellis did have strep. The next day I went and found out that I had it as well. Once we were both on antibiotics things started getting back to normal, and by normal I mean Alaire picking out weird clothes for herself to wear.

I took the kids to the children's museum and we did had some nice days that we were able to play outside. Alaire also mastered the logs at the Rec. Center all by herself!

Here is weird outfit #1....
material from Trevor's cuttoffs on her head and her way to big "running shirt" on over a green shirt. I can't remember and you can't see her bottoms but if I were to guess, you can nearly guarantee there is no bottom to this outfit!

weird outfit #2...
large running shirt and bare everything else.

I would also like to point out Ellis' lovely attire. I think I will retire those shorts for him before Richard Simmons comes asking for an assistant.

The running shirt of Alaire's and Heelies that Ellis has on are their new FAVORITE purchases from half price Goodwill Saturday.

Valentines day we had a busy day so that evening we had an impromtu family mini golf tournament with some hand me down crouquet toys we had been given.

weird outfit #3... especially weird!

valentine heart tights, navy shirt with pink sequined leotard over top, finished off with a life vest and fuzzy crocs. This outfit is really made complete with the lovely face she is making.

This Friday Ellis had been finished with his antibiotic for 2 days and he was back to not eating and crying when he swallowed so on Saturday morning we made another early trip to prompt care for stronger antibiotics.

No church for us again on Saturday night so we decided to go to the movies. I told you I was an extreme softy when it comes to sick kids so we let them get Mt. Dew and they thought it was sooooo soooooooo awesome! Trevor told them this is what the beach is going to be like, "Mom is going to let us do anything we want!!"

This has to be the strangest batch of pictures I have ever seen. Your kids crack me up! Alaire has Punky Bruster beat by a mile and a half. Poor Ellis. He is just growing too tall...does he have a choice?

As for the beach...yep anything goes and we are going to do it all! I can hardly wait! Pappy said!

Get serious! Outfit #3 is fantastic, I have been laughing for a good 10 minutes, I love that girl! The only thing better than the outfit is the look on her face

I laughed out loud at the picture of Alaire in weird outfit #3, so funny! Sorry to hear that you all have been sick, I hope that you all can stay healthy for a while now! February is just a stinky month for sickness.

Trevor didn't say anything about how sick you and Ellis have been when we talked on the phone. Praying you are both recovered and feeling 100% !
