We are having our first ever sleep over tonight. Our buddies Ashley and Daniel are here and we are having the time of our lives. We offered to watch them so their mom and dad could have a night out and we were feeling extra spicy so we asked for them to stay all night.
They got here in time for dinner and then we did lots of playing. We made brownies and even got to lick our spoons. While the brownies were baking they watched "The Rescuers." At 7:30 we went upstairs to make up beds, get pj's on, brush teeth and do all of those bed time things. We let them each pick a Bible story and then listened to their hilariously cute prayers. The following is the rest of the evening.... and let me just say to those of you that have more than two kids or have children that share a room this may be a normal night for you but to us it was very different from the usual.

7:50 Bible stories finished
8:00 pictures taken, children in bed, parents retreat to the couch
8:04 group potty session (all four)
8:10 Trevor lost paper rock scissors and got to put them all back to bed
8:14 unknown Sutton child starts yelling "Caaaassieeee"
seconds later the other three join in
8:16 quiet (mostly)
8:17 Ashley opens the door and says "Cassie, Daniel is calling you."
8:19 Trevor heads back up the stairs (on his own accord), "Get in your beds and go to sleep."
8:22 LOUD thump
8:22.5 Trevor and Cassie run up the stairs to find Ellis has fallen off the top bunk and has a nice goose egg on is forehead.
8:32 Door opens. Trevor gets up two steps and door closes.
8:45 very dramatic and fake tears can be heard coming from Ashley and Alaire. This time Cassie goes to check it out. They need music.
8:52 the most childish rendition of "Deep and Wide" can be heard coming from Trevor's mac book which is sitting in the hallway.
8:54 boy bathroom break..... nevermind make that everyone. The girls must have heard them :)
8:56 Trevor has turned "Jesus loves the little children" down from max to med. volume
9:06 Cassie goes to tell Alaire "Stop singing 'Oh, no never let go!'"
9:15 Quiet for once...we'll see how long it lasts?

Man. what a lame sleepover. Cassie, you should take lessons from your Dad...let them do whtever they want to for a long as they want...feed the popcorn and 'seventeen', let them stay up really late...'late Dad, like 10:30', and have pizza for breakfast! Michael says it was the best sleepover ever!

How is Ellis's head?

yes, this IS normalcy at our house - every night!(ha!) for some reason, i turn into this bedtime-monster whenever the kids need just "one more" thing! i cannot stand going back upstairs... matt & i take turns, but what starts out as sweet & tender "good-nights" normally ends in some deep-voiced yell of "stop calling for us & go to sleep!!!" (glad y'all survived!)

THANK YOU SO MUCH! WOW, sounds like it was an eventful night! The kids had a great time and are telling us all about it. We appreciate you! Andrea & David

FROM ASHLEY:
Thank you Trevor & Cassie for letting us stay at your house for the night (she typed most of that, with help).

Wow! I didn't have my first sleep over until I was in the 2nd grade! You are very brave!!! Loved the list of events - next to the time they happened. What joy!!!
Glad everyone survived and still like each other!

Hilarious! I know-- when they are in bed I completely feel like I should be clocked out. Lately that has been wishful thinking, with a 2-year old who starts a party upstairs every night. I am definitely NOT ready to have slumber parties and add more kids to the nutty mix. :)
