Father's Day "09

I know to you, my loyal readers it will come as no surprise that we celebrated Father's Day early. This is somewhat of an Oakes tradition and this year Trevor will be in the middle of two camps and the rest of the fam. will be in Cincy in an attempt to keep me sane while Daddy is away.

Trevor surprisingly requested cake for Father's Day. He put in his request a few days ago for Ally Pally cake, a favorite from our days in VA. We have attempted it 4 times in CO with each attempt making an improvement on the outcome. I'm thinking the altitude has something to do with it so I'm perfecting the high altitude recipe little by little. (Actually I would love for that to be the excuse for all of my failed attempts but I'm pretty sure it is all because I'm to lazy to grease the pan.) Details, details... and besides Ally Pally crumble cake as I like to call it tastes just the same as the original so who is keeping track anyway??

We made a trip to Boulder, which by the way according to Ellis he has ridden his bike their before. We had dinner at Pei Wei, Ellis loved their lettuce wraps..... oh, excuse me, lettuce tacos. Trevor's head was sweating. I know this means he liked it and that it was extra spicy. Alaire enjoyed never sitting in her seat, flinging her noodles all over the table, and being a general nuisance (she is lucky we lover her!) I sat quietly and contemplated how much they do really enjoy their Father.

Ellis loves lots of stuff about him and seems to add more and more each day. His current number on thing is probably riding bikes with daddy. He also really loves the words, "Daddy is home" ah, his playmate has finally come home. Tonight he told him, "Happy Father's Day" completely unprompted.
Alaire loves her Daddy to and she may be a momma's girl now but she will learn to love him more and more as the years go by because I have a sneaking suspicion they will understand one another much more than I will ever understand her daring and outgoing spirit. Currently she loves waking Dad up and pretend calling him on the phone.

I love Daddy because he is Dad and I couldn't dream of doing all of this without him!

Happy Father's Day, sorry we have to be early.

So sweet! Happy Father's Day to Trevor! If it makes you feel better, we are celebrating my birthday as if it was actually the actual day a whole day early because there is too much going on on Sunday. :) It's kind of nice, it makes the holiday seem longer!

Pei Wei is one of my worst nightmares... We did it once with the kids and I will NEVER do it again..I don't know what it is, but oh my it was crazy... I bet it is altitude with the cake. I think Anna and Alaire could be kindred spirits with their challenging actions.... I love her lots, but she tests me often!
