The running of the Kentucky Derby was an occasion that I don't think Ellis will forget anytime soon. The horse that dad picked for him didn't win, mom's placed, but he did attempt a sip of his first mint julep! Only an attempt though. We went over to the Greer's house to watch the race and eat dinner. I made a derby pie and we drank mint juleps. I was originally taking this picture because Sasha took Ellis for a walk in the backyard and while showing him the flowers he actually picked one, which she said he wanted to give to me,you can see the last petal of it in his hand. Then he grabbed her glass and that made the picture even more cute! We heard later in a call to Papaw that Pappy actually picked the winning horse!!
