Sunday after church we made our way back up the mountains into Estes Park so that Ellis and Alaire could show Auntie Em how they can walk on water. As soon as we entered into RMNP it started snowing and there is still tons of snow up there.
In the parking lot everyone got dressed in their snow gear and I mourned the fact that I had forgotten the sleds again. The ski poles were still in the Dango from our skiing the day before so the kids used those as their walking poles. There was a lot of new fresh snow on the ice so after walking and sinking for a while we made our way to the shore where it was more packed snow.
Auntie Em is always up for a little climbing so she took them on top of this huge rock and then they all slid back down.
"I'm the king of the world!"
Emmy and Ellis were our leaders through a snow shoe trail that went back into the woods. I heard Emmy laughing up ahead and when we caught up I could see that she had sunk all the way up to her thigh with one leg. After she got out she let Alaire and Ellis have a turn standing in the hole.
Here she is with her foot in the hole.
Emmy and I lifted them up onto a rock covered in snow along the trail and they both made snow angels as they slowly slid down the side.
At the huge icicle waterfall they went sled riding on Auntie Em. Her pants were so slippery that they slid right down the hill.

After our hike we went into Estes and let the kids each pick a treat. Ellis had ice cream and Alaire chose a lollipop. Emmy also bought herself a new pair of socks because her feet were soaking wet.
Dinner was so good that night; we finally got to eat at Village Pizza. Trevor's aunt and uncle had told us about it a long time ago and then our friends the McCreas love it too so we thought we should give it a try. Lots of specialty pizzas and a salad bar. You can't go wrong!
The kids finished off the day with another sleepover with Auntie Em. Monday we toured the thrift stores in Boulder and took her to another favorite, Pei wei. It was a short visit but we really packed it with fun!!
