Christmas Tree

Our tradition for 7 yrs. now has been that we get our Christmas tree on our wedding anniversary, so as soon as Trevor got home on Tuesday we loaded up and went out for dinner and tree shopping. (Trevor and I got to go out on our own the next night.)

I had picked a tree out and we were ready to purchase it and then Ellis made the executive decision to veto me and chose a different tree. He said it was, "the perfect one to get."

Thankfully it hasn't really felt like winter here so by the time we got home we still had feeling in our hands and were ready to decorate.

Ellis and Alaire were really in to all of it. So much so that Trevor and I had to keep reminding ourselves that they were just excited. It was like they had eaten cotton candy and Mt. Dew for dinner and topped it off with sugar for dessert.

Our tree is gorgeous. It has a huge branchless hole in the middle, lots of hand made ornaments on the bottom half, its leaning to the right in it's stand, and two strands of lights that only half of each light up. The whole family thinks it perfect!

Alaire got to put the topper on. I still don't know what to call it. It is just a twisted piece of copper that was scrap from when Jeff Marshall and Trevor made Ellis' paper airplanes for his room before he was born.

Here are a few out takes of their craziness. As we were going to bed that night Alaire asked me if it was Christmas when she "waked up" and Ellis said he thinks it would be so cool if we, "had a house with no down walking steps, because then he could open his door and Christmas would already be there." (He is referring to the fact that we make him wait at the top of the steps on Christmas morning until I can get there with the camera.)

I can't remember what I laughed at before those two.

These last two are of a little craft we did yesterday. The register at Lowes had a few hanging up when we were getting our tree so we saved the bottom off of our tree when they trimmed it and then asked the people behind us in line if we could have theirs.

The nose is a cranberry. I let them do all of the glueing and then I helped them hand over hand with the face. They couldn't push hard enough on the wood grain to do it themselves. I think they are super cute and I hope they last. I put some magnets I had on the back and we hung them on the front door.
