Winter Retreat

This past weekend Ellis, Alaire, and I had the opportunity to go with Trevor to camp for the first time. We had a great time at middle school winter retreat. We had so much fun that I forgot to take many pictures. Alaire was as laid back with all of the activities as she usually is, taking naps in her car seat if she needed to, and Ellis thought he was one of the “kids” as he called them. He loved that he got to sleep in a bunk bed that had a ladder and I was so surprised at how well he went to bed for naps and bed time when I was sitting just feet away.

Ellis became pretty attached to a boy in the group named Tony. Every morning he would search him out and tell me what color Tony’s shirt was for the day. We got to eat awesome food, go sledding with everyone, and Ellis absolutely loved getting to dance and jump in the back during worship.

Unfortunately the only picture that I have of Ellis playing around is of him in one of his favorite spots in all of camp, the doorway to the dining hall. He was so proud that he could open and close the door all by himself. There was just enough room in there for him to stand between the doors and say, “where is Ellis.”

The day after we got home we had Nana and Steve over for dinner and then did the traditional dessert trip to Dairy Queen. Ellis was so excited to see them and he was in full performance mode most of the night. At one point he was showing Steve his straw wrapper (just to try to get himself in on the conversation) and Steve told him he looked like he had a mustache. Ellis of course thought that was great and even showed it off for the camera.

We envy you and the time at camp -- playing in the snow and just looking at that gorgeous view of the Rockies.

Hope Ellis always keeps that sence of wonder and fun!

Love Ya! O'ma
