My friend Holly tagged me with the topic “what is your routine like?” After reading hers I’m worn out and thinking maybe I’m not as busy as I think I am. Maybe I will just type it out here and let you be the judge.
First I’ll just give you an idea of the regular everyday schedule and warn you that I’m sort of schedule crazy when it comes to my kids but I really believe that it has made Ellis an awesome sleeper and made me capable of usually knowing exactly what they need (sleep, food, diaper, etc.).
6 am- Alaire and I wake for the first feeding of the day. (She eats every 3 hrs.) She goes right back to bed and I attempt to do the same.
7- I hear “hey Mommy, Mommy come in here, Mommy I wanna tell you something”
I try to ignore it and wonder why is it almost never “Daddy” but one of us finally gives in and goes to get him. If we are really tired he comes to our bed for Clifford.
7:30- We go down to eat breakfast while Trevor gets ready for work.
8- 8:30- We play and then say bye to Daddy.
9- Put Ellis on his potty (this took a while to figure out) and then get Alaire and feed her. Tummy time and cleaning up…..always cleaning up!
10- Alaire goes back to bed. Ellis and I go upstairs as well to make beds, get dressed if we haven’t yet and then go back downstairs to play puzzles, paint, blocks, or more cleaning up.
11:30- We eat lunch and then clean up.
12- Sit Ellis on the potty again and turn on the PBS kids for George and Word World. Feed Alaire. By the middle of Word World Ellis is usually saying “I no go ni-night.”
1pm- Everyone upstairs for naptime. If I’m tired I nap too, but if we haven’t been anywhere yet I most likely haven’t showered so now is the time. I also try to do anything I don’t want Ellis to be apart of….whether it be eating ice cream or cleaning the bathrooms. This is also when I usually do my quiet time….b/c it is the only quiet time.
3- Wake Alaire to eat while I watch the Ellen show.
4- Alaire is back to bed and Ellis wakes up to “help” me start dinner.
5-6- Trevor gets home and we eat. The boys go to the mailbox, play skateboards….etc.
6- Alaire eats.
7- Alaire goes to bed for the night and Ellis gets in the tub. After the bath he loves to run around naked back and forth a million times down the hall from our room to his room.
7:45- Start the bedtime routine- one book, prayers, pat hugs, kisses, noseys, squeezes and whatever else he comes up with.
8- His door is shut and I’m begging Trevor to scoop me a bowl of ice cream.
9- I wake Alaire just enough to top her off for the night and put her right back to bed. This feeding will probably be dropped soon, but I’m just not ready….not sure if it’s the heartstrings or the fear of her waking up in the middle of the night.
10:30- I can keep my eyes open no longer.
The week:
Sunday This month I have just started volunteering in the one and two yr. old class at one of our church’s satellite sites. Trevor, of course is at main campus for the morning and then in after nap time we usually go to the grocery store all together.
Monday is Trevor’s day off and in turn my favorite day of the week. Sometimes we trade off with one of us sleeping in or he sleeps for a while and then we trade. Lots of times we do something as a family (go to the park, play games, go see GG, run errands) but sometimes I get to have the morning off and then I usually go to Panera for something yummy and uninterrupted time on the computer.
Tuesday. Every other Tuesday we have Real Moms at our church which is similar to MOPS. Ocassionally on those days we can have lunch with Trevor in town if he isn’t having a lunch meeting.
Wednesdays I try to stay really low key in the morning for the kids because we go to church as soon as Ellis wakes up from his nap. We take dinner with us to eat in Trevor’s office so I’m usually cooking during naptime. Ellis goes to childcare, or “class” as he calls it during youth group and Alaire hangs with me. We usually don’t get home until at least 9 pm so it makes for a really long night for the two of them.
Thursdays I sometimes run errands in the morning but if not we just hang out at home.
Fridays we usually stay at home in the morning and then our afternoon and evenings are always different. (going to an activity that one of the students is in, dinner out…)
Saturday mornings Trevor and I usually do our “trades” (for sleep) again and then we do anything we can think of together. Lately Ellis has loved to play baseball and paint. We go to church in the evening, as soon as naptime is over we are out the door. The service is over right when it is time for Alaire to eat so we end up being one of the last to leave. We used to go out to eat every Saturday night but now we usually come home for a crock pot meal. That way we make bedtime and we save money too.
If you are still reading I tag Sarah B, (Sarah W. if you had the blog we have been bugging you for a few years to have) Jen, and my mom.

you asked for it...but it might take me awhile to actually remember what I do all day long....

Cassie,
Our days sound exactly the same and I feel so much better knowing I'm not wasting time etc... and I'm not the only one who has no time to clean... who wants to clean during nap time? The only difference is I am not nursing all the time (Wooohhoooo)! Anna is now almost all whole milk! Thanks for fulfilling my tag. We will have to think of another one... Read my friend the Armstrong's she did it as well!
I'm worn out reading your schedule! You deserve a rest when you can get it! Having structure makes life easier on everyone... especially if you're flexible with it when you need to be,like you are with yours.
Love Ya! O"ma
