If you are looking for updates on our last few days in Cincy you should check my mom's page. I brought all of the crazies home with me so apparently she now has a ton of time on her hands to update you on all that went on. I will share this one last picture from Wammy and Pappy's house of Ellis on a skateboard. It was freezing outside but I felt like the little man and I needed a little fresh air that morning after being in the house from being sick for so long so we bundled up and went down the slide a few times and for a few rides around the yard in the wagon. We were on our way in when Ellis found a skateboard under my dad's too lbench (yes, I know what those of you who know him are thinking....but he has had one for as long as I can remember)...anyway the skateboard was left there by mom and dad's WI neighbor DJ (who on a side note was my BFF when I lived there 1 summer). Ellis got it out and told me that Pappy got it for him. We took a few spins around the driveway and then called it a day for fear of our noses falling off from frostbite.
We are now safe and sound at home and I'm happy to say that our ride home was pretty uneventful. There is one funny story to tell so I thought I would share it here. We were on our way to our gate and I decided to stop to get Ellis to go to the bathroom. Picture me with his carseat on my back like a back pack. The diaperbag and my computer are both hanging on the stroller. Alaire is in her carseat wich is attached to the stroller and Ellis is sitting spread eagle with his back pack on over Alaire's feet hanging on for dear life. Once we make it into the handicap stall without killing anyone Ellis does his business and then is told to stand against the wall and not touch anything while he waits for Mommy. What does he do.....oh you know what he does.....he looks under the stall to see who is attatched to those feet he sees peeking our from below. When I tell him to stand up he quickly obeys and adds "Its a girl, she has a gina" loud enough for the whole airport to hear! (At least we know he has learned all of the body parts.) Thankfully when we were washing our hands the "girl" came out and it was an older lady who I could tell by her accent and dress was foreign so I really don't think she understood his 2yr. old speech but my face was red for the remainder of the trip.
We had to have a little help getting on the plane but the flight went fine. Thankfully my eye had gone back to normal after a million trips to the microwave at mom's to warm my washcloth. Ellis and Alaire both slept for most of the flight. At one point I asked the male flight attendant if he had any way of warming a bottle for me and he seemed a bit confused, I guess because it was frozen breast milk. I imagine that they mostly just add warm water to formula. Anyway he came back with a bag of really hot water. I tried to get that to work for a few minutes but finally gave up and just nursed her. Both of the flight attendants were so great to help me off of the plane and get them in the stroller. Ellis was so excited to see Daddy. He ran for him when he saw him at baggage claim and then when he was half way there turned around to get his suitcase so he could show it to Trevor. (Ellis loves suitcases.)
We had jammie days our first two days home becasue Alaire woke up at 3:30 am and Ellis at 5:30 am. and I developed a fever and a few more lovely symptoms that my sister decided to share with me before we left. Thankfully we are all feeling better today, Ellis is back on schedule and Alaire is almost there.
I can't even begin to tell you all of the things that Ellis picked up from Michael and Luke while he was there (ie. "that's gross", "this is delicious", the constant 'need' for popcorn) but I will share that this is one of my favorites so far. I was feeding Alaire on the couch last night and Ellis comes running in with his back pack and says "mommy my back pack empty" so I sent him to the playroom to fill it up. He comes back with one book inside and asks "where is the school bus?" I pointed to the kitchen at the chairs Peepaw just sent him and he went running in to sit down. He sat sidways looked at me waving and said "bye bye Mommy, I be good, have a good day." Then he ordered me to turn Alaire around from her burping position so he could say his goodbyes to her as well. I guess I don't need to tell you how much he loved taking Michael to the bus stop and picking him up each day.
Since our return home I have become chopped liver.....Ellis no longer has a Mommy, becasue Daddy has become all that and more. This morning he wanted to lay with Daddy on the little couch under the covers and watch his drum video from Aunt Nancy and Uncle Rick. He told me they needed some chips for a snack (he had just seen his leftover Dorritos from last nights Subway on the counter). When I gave in and handed them over he said "look dad, burritos." Trevor told him that he had chosen the perfect snack, that they wouldn't even need a napkin, they could just wipe their hands on the blanket because it was the same color. Should I be worried?

I love the stories and you could tell a million more...but I have to say that the gina story is my all time favorite. Such a smart boy!
You should for sure be worried. I taught JH how yo blow his noes and he wipes it with a kleenex I leave for one quick errand and he wipes his nose on his sleeves. Eric's response. I spent good money on those front loaders, it will get the snot out!
bubba and a skateboard. hmmm. and the lady and her gina CRACKED ME UP. oh, and i know the chopped liver feeling. get used to it - it'll pop up again from time to time!
I love the picture of the boys laying on the couch watching the drum video, and it looks like Alaire loves the vieo too.
fabulous new pictures! and i have to agree with everyone... the gina story is fantastic! :o)
Oh my goodness I laughed out loud at the bathroom story..I can truly picture it! Glad everyone is feeling better and you are back to a normal schedule!
