Ladybug is HERE!

About midnight we began to time contractions, with little strength we decided to go to sleep. Trevor was able to acheive this goal, but I stayed up still occassionally timing contractions, but just not able to sleep.About 3 AM, the contractions were regular enough to warrant a call to the doctor who said, "Come on in." We made the proper calls to our assistant (Kelly King) who came over quickly and we were on our way.

That didn't mean a baby would arrive anytime soon. We arrived at the hospital around 3:30 AM, up to Triage and monitored for a spell...ultimately they said, "you should walk....for an hour." So, we did, lap after tiny lap around our area, and after an hour, we were checked again, with not much change. Our nurse called our doctor who said," admit" (a great sounding word) and we were in a room. My nurse started a little Pitosin and it didn't seem to take to long. She checked me and I was 80% 4cm. Around 9 AM I got the epidural and was able to take a little rest. My nurse has been awesome and she noticed that my contractions seemed stronger around noon and wanted to check me again. She quickly went to call the doctor. I think she was surprised that I was already at ten. We waited for a little while for my doctor. I pushed a total of 4 times!! and she was here. The delivery was really cool because once her head was out the doctor let me deliver her.
We are both doing great. She will have to have her sugars checked a few times (because I have big ones). I'm feeling pretty good, a little sleepy and ready to feel my legs again but all in all I have to say it went remarkably well and fast.

Ellis will be here with Nana Kelli as soon as he wakes up from his nap. We both can't wait to see his reaction so be sure to check back for more photos of the Bug and Ladybug together for the first time.

Look close at the picture of the cord. Trevor got to cut it but she had a true knot in her umbilical cord.

Oh yeah I bet you are wanting to know all of the specs. (really I was just forcing you to read this far) Her name is Alaire Kathryn Oakes. She was born at 12:40 PM weighing in at 8lbs. 13oz. and measuring 21 and a half inches, and just as I suspected she has a full head of hair!
