I feel like it has been so long since I have posted anything. We have been so busy the last few days that I just haven't been able to get to the church to add pictures or give any updates on what has been going on in the life of Ellis Miles. We tried pears for the first time a few days ago and he liked them so much he had fourths!! I wasn't sure if he would like them so we ended up buying two pears at the grocery store and I peeled and cored them and then pureed them in the blender, it was a real hit. At meal times Ellis has been showing us a few traits that he got from Trevor and I. For one he eats so fast I believe he could beat his father in an eating contest, and a trait that I know came from the both of us is he is soooo stubborn. I don't know if he forgets that he likes rice and fruit or what but it is the same every time we sit down to feed him, he purses his lips so hard you can't even force the spoon in there. We have resorted to placing just a taste on his lips so that he can see we aren't trying to trick him. After he realizes it you better have that spoon ready!
The next thing we have been up to is walking....well not him just Trevor and me. Ellis loves to go for walks. Some days we go for three and you know that he is really enjoying himself if he sings. Actually he is just humming but I imagine if he was older he would be singing. Curently some of his favorite songs are When The Roll is Called Up Yonder, Baby Balooga, The Big Rock Candy Mt., and Um Ah Went the Little Green Frog. He also kicks his feet a lot in his stroller and I translate that as "wow this is really fun."
Yesterday we took the kids in the youth group ice blocking. You buy ice the way they used to have it in the big blocks, place a towel between the ice and your bum, find the biggest hill you can (which can be a challenge in KS) and slide down just as you would in the winter time. Ellis went with us, although he didn't get to slide, but the plus for him was that he got to be outside and there were a lot of girls who love to hold and play with him. After the ice blocking we came home and fed him dinner then went out to a grassy area in our apt. complex and played on a blanket before bed time. The picture of him sitting up comes from that time, but don't be fooled, Trevor just captured that moment at the exact right time. If it had been one second after he would have caught him tumbling over.
The last shot is of the two of us on my first mothers day....I know that some of you may say well you were still a mother last year, and yes I agree but now I know what it really means to be a mother. It means getting up and singing hymns from 3am to 6am (which I did last night) It means smelling like milk or spit-up eventhough you just took a shower, always having some sort of something all over you clothes and always running on someone elses schedule. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't trade it for the world....that little grin that makes him look like he is winking gets me every time. Happy Mothers Day!

Happy Mother's Day..isn't it just the most wonderful thing in the world!
Nice job with the babysitter!
Can't wait to see this little nugget in person. i hope that by then he has grown into those ears. just kidding!
he is the cutest little thing and I have decided that he looks exactly like you. Oh no. We are in trouble. It is really too bad that he did not get more of my looks , well if we are lucky he will at least get some of my personality so he is not a complete bore like his mom and dad. Just kidding! You guys are great have fun see you in a month!!!!!!! Emmy
